Welcome to the 4th Sharing the Blog Love Blogger Showcase! If you’re a new linker - welcome! And if you’re a regular (can we say regular now at 4 weeks in?) - it’s lovely to see you again! I’m really enjoying hosting this linky - it’s brought me to so many blogs that are new to me and I’ve loved reading all of your posts. It’s often so hard to find the time to read as many blogs as I’d like to so I love reading them all here. It’s so lovely to be able to showcase our favourites here - I really hope you enjoy reading them.
Just a quick note to say do please make sure that you include our badge on your post (or in your sidebar if you prefer) and that you have done the minimum commenting - there were a few potential featured posts this month that we didn’t include as these were missing.
Squished Blueberries
Louise’s It’s all about the Connection is a beautiful and honest post, heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure. For those of you who aren’t regular readers, Louise has three children and talks here about the difficulties she was having with the behaviour of her eldest, Greta. Being the eldest can be difficult at times, and I remember very well being younger and craving that one-to-one time with each of my parents. I think we all have moments as parents where we reach breaking point - so often it seems to take reaching that point to make us understand what the real issue is. I loved Louise’s point about putting aside the ‘Instagram picture perfect’ image of a mummy-daughter date - that we don’t need to create special activities to strengthen the bond with our children, a simple trip to the park can do that just as well. Just slowing down and taking the time to really listen and to show your child how special they are to you.
Happy Go Mummy
As a mother of a boy I loved Happy Go Mummy’s post on Raising a Boy. I think like many women, I worried that I wouldn’t know what to do with a boy. I’m a girly girl, I come from a family of girls - girls are what I know! I always pictured myself as a mum to girls, so I was quite surprised when we found out at the scan we were having a boy. I love this post - it’s honest, realistic and funny! What more could you want in a blog post?
Tammy Mum
I think so often these days we tend to look around us and feel that feminism has come a long way, and that it’s not something that we still need to talk about. I loved Sarah’s post, Who Runs the World… Girls, because it flagged up both how far we’ve come in terms of equality, but also how far we still have to go. We have powerful women in so many areas of the media - politicians, musicians, writers, businesswomen - which is something to celebrate, but there are so many countries in the world where women are not treated on a parr with men. We need to make sure that we keep talking about this, that we don’t just take our own sphere of existence as being the way of the world.
Handful of Halfpennys
I love this Job Description for a Mum of 4 from Nat at Handful of Halfpennys. It’s honest and funny and it definitely put a smile on my face on a day when my son was ill and there wasn’t much to smile about! Let’s face it, we all love our kids to bits, but when you look at it on paper, it sounds like a job you’d be running as far away as your legs could carry you!
