The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 33

Today marks the end of 33 weeks and it's feeling so much closer all the time now. It's definitely getting tougher though, and each week remaining feels like a real hurdle to get through. Just 6 weeks left now (fingers crossed anyway!)   What's going on with the baby At 33 weeks the baby weighs about 4 pounds and will continue to put on about half a pound each week. His skeleton will be hardening up now and when he's awake they will have their eyes open. His hearing is pretty well developed now too, so given the fact that Max talks to him all the time, I'm hoping that he'll recognise his brother's voice when he's born.   What's going on with me Following on from ...

Me and Mine: A Family Portrait in April

What an up and down month April has been in our family! I'm so aware now that our time together as a family of three is coming to a close, and all being well we're about to start a whole new chapter in early June. I'm so conscious of these last few months where Max gets to be the centre of our little world, and I really want to make the most of them for him. So despite the fact that the sickness has made a very unwelcome return, on the days where it's been bearable, we've made a real effort to get out and about. I really love this set, which we took on a trip to Winkworth Arboretum to ...

A visit to Little Street West Byfleet

When I heard that a Little Street was opening in West Byfleet I could not have been more excited! Little Street is a play centre for children, set up like a mini town, designed to encourage imagination and role play. While I find soft play a difficult experience with my 3 year old, I knew that this kind of role play adventure would be much more his kind of thing and I was really excited at the prospect of one opening up locally to us. Little Street isn't your standard 'turn up and play' activity - they have set play sessions which you are encouraged to book onto. This means that the space is never overcrowded or intimidating for your child. ...

The Best Places to find Bluebells in the South East

I know it's a blogger cliche to head off each season for a photoshoot amongst the different fields of flowers, but it's one that I love. There's nothing like that splash of colour to make a perfect backdrop for a family photo. Spring is always dominated for me by the vast carpets of bluebells that spring up in woodlands across the country - the colour and scent combination can't be beaten. But finding that elusive carpet of purple can be a bit more tricky - last year we headed to numerous 'bluebell spots', only to find that they are roped off for their protection which makes it impossible to take any photos (Hatchlands National Trust - I'm thinking of you!). So ...

A sneak peek at the JoJo Maman Bebe AW17 range

JoJo Maman Bebe have to be one of my favourite children's clothing brands, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to have a sneak peek at their Autumn / Winter 2017 range this week. They're known for their bright, fun, colourful prints, which are right up my street, and they've definitely continued this theme with their AW17 collection. The first thing to really catch my eye was the amount of fox themed clothing - if you're a fan of a fox print (and I know I'm not alone in my love of foxes) then you definitely won't be disappointed. Whether you have a baby or a toddler, there are lots of different fox options for you - a fox sleepsuit ...

A big welcome to our weekly #SharingtheBlogLove Blogger Showcase! If you're new to #SharingtheBlogLove, these are mine and Laura's favourite posts from last week's linky. As part of the linky we'd like you to choose one post from each showcase post (one from mine and one from Laura's) to head over to and leave a comment to show them some extra blog love. It's always lovely to take a look at our featured posts this week and see how many extra comments they've had from you guys!   Bubbablue and Me I don't know about you, but it was a long time before I shared my blog with any friends and family. I felt it was a very private thing, which is odd when you think about how ...

Discovering a new local gem at Painshill Park

I think so often we're guilty of not fully exploring the amazing places that lie on our doorstep, and this was definitely the case with me and Painshill Park until recently. It's probably our closest garden, and yet we'd never visited before, preferring to visit either RHS Wisley or Claremont Landscape Garden. Principally due to the cost, as I have both RHS and National Trust memberships, so both of those were 'free' visits, whereas Painshill requires an entry fee of £8 per adult (or the purchase of an annual membership). I was finally persuaded to make a visit as I was craving somewhere new and wanted to see what Painshill Park had to offer. Max and I headed there early one ...

The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 32

32 weeks pregnant and the third trimester is whizzing by!   What's going on with the baby The baby is now about the size of a squash. Their fingernails and toenails are fully formed, and the baby might even scratch itself if it has an itch - how cute is that? They'll carry on growing until birth - I remember poor Max being covered in scratches as a baby from his long nails. I've made sure all our newborn sleepsuits have built in scratch mitts this time around!   What's going on with me This week has been a tough one. I'm definitely feeling huge, and have had quite a few "not long to go now" comments when out and about - 8 weeks still feels like quite ...

Living Arrows 17/52

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   After a Max and Daddy photo last week, it's funny that it was this one that caught my eye this week too. We visited Hinton Ampner for a short visit at the weekend and Max loved running around and playing hide and seek with us both. I love his little grin in this one, as Daddy prepares to lift him up onto his shoulders!
