How to Make A Christmas Wreath – An Easy DIY

For the past 3 Christmases, each December I've made my own Christmas wreath. Every year I get lots of comments on Instagram from people saying they wish they knew how to make their own, so I thought I'd write up a little guide as it really is so easy! In past years I've used wire wreath rings and created a base using sphagnum moss and florist's wire, but this year I bought a foam oasis base and it really does make the whole job so much easier. Plus, the water in the foam will keep your foliage looking fresh for weeks to come.   What You'll Need Foam Oasis Base (I used these from Amazon*) Branches of spruce (either clip from Christmas tree or buy from ...

Ben at 6 Months

I've not done regular monthly updates for Ben, but 6 months is a bit of a milestone and needs recording in some way. I genuinely can't believe we've hit 6 months already, I'm sure with a second child the time whizzes by at least 4 times as quickly! Ben, you are such a happy little guy - full of smiles and giggles. It's so easy to get a smile from you, even walking around the supermarket you can't help beaming at everyone who looks your way. I know if you're looking a bit grumpy that a quick round of Row, Row, Row Your Boat, or Pop Goes The Weasel will get you laughing again. But no-one gets a bigger smile than ...

A big welcome back to #SharingtheBlogLove linky! December has hit and it's finally acceptable to be embracing Christmas! We put our Christmas tree up last week - it was a bit fraught, we ended up visiting the garden centre 5 times that day with various light related problems; buying more, returning faulty ones, buying even more! But it's up and looking pretty good if I do say so myself (although I'm sure every year we slide further into the 'homemade' route with our decorations - I can't resist all the ones Max has made! Max is super excited about Christmas and it's the excitement from your children that make Christmas so special. It's his Christmas party on Friday and he can barely ...

The Emotion of The School Application

After much deliberation, we've finally decided on our school application list for Max, and it's finally hit me - we have less than a year before he starts school. Whenever I heard parents saying "I can't believe how quickly it's gone" when the time arrived for their child to start school I always felt a bit baffled. It's 3 and a half years, that's a reasonable length of time in anyone's book. But now I completely understand!  It feels like only a month or so ago that I can remember Max as a toddler, staggering around, unsteady on his feet. How can he be ready to start school, he still can't put his own shoes on! But I know that by ...

Our Advent Activity Calender

Every year, I try to do an activity based advent calendar for Max (as well as a chocolate one - I'm not a meanie!). Last year I took it a bit easy and put chocolates in quite a few of the boxes, given that I was really suffering with pregnancy sickness and not really up to a lot of the things I'd have liked to do. So this year I'm intending to make the most of it and make sure that we do lots of Christmas things so that we're really in the mood. Luckily my love of Christmas has definitely rubbed off on Max - he's already asking to wear his Christmas jumper, and keeps asking if it's Christmas ...
