Me & Mine: A Family Portrait in September

September always feels like a new start to me somehow. Even though obviously I'm no longer in school, or have children at school, there's always something about coming to the end of summer that feels like the end of an era. And there is so much to love about the onset of autumn that it always feels like embracing the new - kicking through leaves, collecting conkers, feeling that crisp air on your cheeks. I feel like our attempts at family photos are slowly getting better - this time I remembered the tripod for the DSLR and worked out how to work the Continuous Shooting mode on the camera which made life much easier! We took our photos this month last ...

A big welcome to week 14 of #SharingtheBlogLove! I love running this linky with my lovely friend Laura at Dear Bear and Beany, and once again we were so pleased that so many of you joined us last week - lots of new linkers among our regular favourites. Once again there's been lots of commenting going on too, so I really hope that you're all feeling the love. We've had a very autumnal week so far! We took Max conker hunting for the first time, and he loved it! Prising them out of their shells and seeing their glossy brown gorgeousness makes me so happy. Max loved running through the fallen leaves too. I love being able to introduce him to all ...

A sneaky peek at my makeup organisation

I've always been a bit of a makeup addict and an organiser, so there's nothing that combines these two passions better than makeup organisation! I recently revamped my dressing table which gave me the push I needed to really look at better ways to store my makeup. Until just recently, I used a big makeup artist's trunk which sat on the floor - not the most ideal solution - and meant that most of the makeup that I used on a day to day basis would just end up strewn across my dressing table.   Storage Storage is key for good organisation. My main objective was to find little homes for all of my bits and pieces, but to still be able to ...

Living Arrows 39/52

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   I've been determined to embrace autumn, so this week we headed to Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park. Although the autumn colours weren't in full swing just yet, we had a great time wandering through the trees. I loved when Max picked up a leaf and gave it to me - my very first leaf present! I'm so pleased I managed to take a quick snap on my phone to capture the moment.

5 Happy Things #23

The end of summer always puts me on a bit of a downer. I love autumn, but I have to admit that it takes a while every year for me to come round to accepting the fact the summer is truly over before I can start to embrace autumn. I'm really keen to do lots of lovely autumnal activities this year though - it really is such a lovely colourful season with so much to love about it, and we started off well with our trip last weekend.     01. We had a quiet morning on Sunday with no plans, and we ended up going to RHS Wisley. One of the things I love about Wisley is that it's so vast that ...

The Best Instagram Hashtags for Parent Bloggers

So it's no secret that I'm a huge lover of Instagram. Despite my initial hesitation, it's grown to be my 'happy place', and rarely a day goes by that I don't upload a photo of what we're up to. When I started out, I was hesitant to use hashtags, and didn't really understand them, but I've come to realise how important they are to getting your photos seen and liked by as many people as possible, and connect with other users who share the same interests as you. There are so many instagram hashtags for parent bloggers that it can be a bit overwhelming, so I wanted to share the ones that have really worked for me to grow my ...

And it's amazing to see how generous so many of you are with your commenting as I go through all the posts - so much sharing the blog love going on! We've had a week of illness over here - nothing serious, but Max and I have both had a bit of a bug, so we've been staying in, building ...

Legoland Windsor for Under 2’s

We first visited Legoland Windsor with my son when he was just over a year old, and I remember being concerned as to whether there was actually enough there to really make it good value. Most age suggestions seem to indicate between 4-10 as being the optimum ages to get the most out of the day. Under 3's go free at Legoland, but obviously there is a big cost as a family as you're still paying the entry fee for the adults, so you want there to be enough there for it to be worthwhile. Even on our first visit, I was so impressed with the amount of things for under 2's to enjoy, so I wanted to put together a ...
