This is a week I’ll be more than glad to see the back of - it’s been filled with some things that I’d rather forget and been a difficult one in general. But in amongst all of that there have been some lovely moments that have got me through.
01. Max and I visited Mayfield Lavender Farm on Monday and it was just as lovely as I’d expected. Max wasn’t in the mood at first, so we just sat down in the middle of all the lavender and had a long cuddle, breathing in the sweet smell. It was like being in a fantasy - purple as far as your eye could see, and Max kept shouting ‘popple!’ I got some lovely photos of him amongst the lavender which I just need to get written up into a blog post to share!
02. My cousin is a teacher and lives in Kenya, so it’s always lovely to catch up with her over the summer holidays when she’s back over in the UK. We had a lovely dinner - me, my sister, my cousin and my aunt - it’s always amazing how long we can just chat for when we all get together and how much we can laugh - I think we must have been the loudest table in the restaurant!
03. Our house is filled with flowers at the moment - I bought a gorgeous bouquet with sunflowers which has been brightening up my week, and my Mum and Dad popped round with a huge bouquet of roses, lillies, and gerberas which has given our house the most amazing scent.
04. I’ve been loving having the sunshine back! Last week I was left in sole charge of two toddlers for a morning (Max and my nephew) - something which initially filled me with fear! But we had a great time together at my mum’s house. We played outside in her pretty epic paddling pool (it has a squirty palm tree and a slide - if that’s not the best paddling pool ever, I don’t know what is!) and it’s so funny to watch the two little boys together - whatever one does, the other one copies. They just take turns all day!
05. We had a lovely visit to RHS Wisley this week and found their sunflower amphitheatre in bloom! It’s a circular planting of sunflowers at different heights, with paths that you can run through to explore. I loved it - Max took a bit more persuading and only went in when he asked me if there were tractors in there and I rather shamefully said yes there were!
