5 moments of happiness

What a productive week this week has been! We’ve finally managed to make some progress on decorating the spare room, which is the last room in the house to get the makeover it so desperately needed, and will soon become my office. Soon we will be able to clear the office clutter that is currently forming a trip hazard in our dining room and we’ll regain two whole rooms, an office and a dining room!

Autumn is well and truly here – there is something magical about the feeling that the changing of the seasons brings, the anticipation of all the little joys of autumn on the horizon – bonfires, fireworks, conkers, crumbles, and snuggling up in pyjamas with a lovely warm cup of hot chocolate.

My week has included the following little highlights:

  1. Max bringing me the toy telephone and saying ‘Dada’, then when I asked him if it was Daddy on the phone, shouting ‘Yes!’ These are his only two words so far, so a conversation that included them both was pretty heart melting. We then proceeded to call Daddy for real on the actual phone which Max thought was just hilarious.

  1. My wonderful Mum who came round to tackle the wallpapering in my office. I tell everyone we did it together, but really I’m more the ‘glamourous assistant’ type – I hand over the brush / roller / wallpaper as requested but generally just mill about.

  1. Speaking of which, the wallpaper itself I am just over the moon about! I chose Sian Elin’s Tress wallpaper which I loved for it’s mid-century feel and bold colours, but you never really know how something’s going to look on the whole wall until it’s up. The bright colours lift the whole room and I can’t wait to start working in it.

  1. My new pink floral wellies from Joules. I’ve always loved patterned wellingtons (hence the name of this blog) and these have to be the most stylish I’ve owned. Long gone are the days of ‘welly’ green or nothing! These are slightly shorter than the traditional welly boot, meaning that they’re easier to get on and more comfortable when working in the garden and doing lots of kneeling down.

  1. Meeting up with my sister and her little boy who is three weeks younger than Max and seeing Max walk up to him and give him a hug – a proper, ‘rest my head on your shoulders’ hug! My sister and I both grew up close in age to our cousins and I really hope that Max will have the same close relationship with his cousin as I have with mine.
