You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran The Living Arrows series is a photo project hosted by Donna at What the Redhead Said. It's a weekly series where you share a photo which captures a moment in childhood. I love how it encourages me to capture those little moments and I love looking back and seeing all the changes in Max as he grows up over the year.     I can't be the only one whose child's highlight of the week is the bin lorry coming? Every Monday, Max knows to expect them and spends all morning waiting at the window for them to come. As soon as they pull up outside our house ...

The Ordinary Moments: Slipping through my Fingers

We had a quiet day together this week. You didn't want to do much, so we just played together at home and wandered up to the shops to pick up a few bits and do some shopping. It was one of those nothing days, and yet something hit me as I was putting you to bed. It was such an ordinary thing, but you just leaned in to give me a hug and it hit me then: you've grown up so much over the last few months and I've missed it. I've been so taken up with being ill, for days on end, that it's let me miss all of those little things. I've been there, I've been right there ...

The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 22

22 weeks pregnant now and I'm going to very tentatively put it out there that I might be starting to feel a bit better lately! I've not been physically sick for two weeks now, and I'm not feeling as sick either - in fact, some days I've been feeling pretty good!   What's going on with the baby This week the baby is around the size of a papaya - getting bigger all the time! He is developing little tooth buds below his gums and his eyes are now fully formed, although they are still lacking the pigment to determine eye colour. I wonder whether this little one will be blue eyed like his brother or brown eyed like his mummy and daddy...   What's going on ...

A big welcome back to #SharingtheBlogLove! Thank you so much to everyone who joined last week - it was lovely to see so many of our new linkers over the last few weeks returning. We always get such great feedback from people who love joining, it really does make it such a lovely linky to run. It feels like we've turned a corner this week into spring! We've seen snowdrops coming through and the temperature seems to have climbed a little bit. Which is great news as my pregnancy sickness is finally starting to disappear and Max seems to have cracked the potty training which means we can head out and enjoy the spring! But, on with the linky!   What's #SharingtheBlogLove all about? If you ...

Baby Shower Gift Ideas

The trend for baby showers has really caught on in recent years and I think it's a lovely way to celebrate the huge change in a woman's life as she becomes a mum. Pregnancy can be a tough slog, and it's often left me feeling quite isolated from my friends and family, so a baby shower is a lovely way to join them in a bit of a party. I think often we forget that our closest friends are often just as excited as we are to celebrate. So often it can be difficult to know what to buy as a gift, so I've put together a list of baby shower gifts to give you some inspiration!   Personalised Gifts   I think a touch of ...

It's a weekly series where you share a photo which captures a moment in childhood. I love how it encourages me to capture those little moments and I love looking back and seeing all the changes in Max as he grows up over the year.     It's been very much an indoor week here - it's been so cold and miserable! We've made our own fun though, and Max has really taken to a little toy drill set we bought him, complete with goggles! Not the best photo I've taken, but ...

The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 21

21 weeks pregnant now and getting closer to meeting the baby all the time. I think all of a sudden my due date doesn't feel quite as far away anymore and I've started to feel the urge to start buying things and organising in preparation. I think it's something about having tipped over that halfway mark (or just an urge to go shopping, you decide!)   What's going on with the baby The baby is practising swallowing and will be swallowing a little bit of amniotic fluid every day. This means that he may be tasting the things you eat as the taste of the fluid varies from day to day depending on what you've eaten. How amazing is that?   What's going on with me     One ...
