Ben’s First Tooth! {With Nibbling Teething Accessories}

Permalink

We've hit one of the big milestones with Ben recently, and it's one that he's been thinking we've been on the cusp of for a while now - his first tooth! At 9 months he still had no signs of a tooth, despite having been teething for what felt like ages, so I think we were all relieved when that little white tip poked itself through. And lo and behold the following week it's little partner popped through next to it. We've been dosing him up on the calpol to get us all through, but we were thrilled to be sent these gorgeous teething products from Nibbling to ease his pain - particularly as his favourite way to relieve the ...

Guilt Free Snacking with Heavenly Tasty Organics

Permalink

I don't know about you, but there's one food that my fussy eating 3 year old loves, and that's snacks. It doesn't seem to matter what it is - call it a snack, and he's won round! So when the lovely folk at Heavenly Tasty Organics got in touch to see if we'd like to try out their range, I was pretty quick to say yes. The range was developed by mum Shauna McCarney-Blair, with the aim to create healthy snack options for young children and babies. The range is entirely free from artificial colours of flavours, and has no added sugar or salt. It's also perfect for little ones who have food allergies, as they're all gluten free and ...

Why I’m a Johnson’s Baby Ambassador

Permalink

I'm so proud to be working with Johnson’s Baby this year as one of their Brand Ambassadors. When it came to choosing products to use on my babies, Johnson’s Baby were the first brand that I went to, and I did it instinctively. They’re one of the brands that I remember fondly from my own childhood – the smell of the big yellow shampoo will always make me feel a bit nostalgic when I recognise it. These are products that my mum used for me and my sister when I was little, and they’re products that are top of my list when it comes to bathing my own children. I think bathtime is a time when so much bonding takes place, ...

Hop Little Bunny! Baby Fashion With The Disney Store

Permalink

It's coming up to Easter and my thoughts are filled with all things eggs, daffodils and bunnies. And when you have a cute little baby, the temptation to dress them up whenever you get the opportunity is just too good to miss! We're huge Disney fans in our house; I often think that Disney was the foundation to my childhood, and it's so lovely to be reliving it all again as my sons discover it for the first time. I was so thrilled when the Disney Store got in touch to see if we'd like to test out some of their baby range with Ben. But I was even more excited when I saw what they'd sent us through - a ...

All mess, no stress! {With Messy Me}

Permalink

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know that we're currently weaning Ben onto solid food. It's going really well and he's embracing the concept of food, but however you look at it, weaning is a messy process. You end up with food on your baby, on their clothes, on the table, on the floor, even in rooms that they didn't eat in (is anyone else's baby a thrower?) Messy Me is a brilliant range of products designed to make cleaning up the mess easier, with a range that includes splash mats, high chair covers, bibs, mini changing bags, and high chair inserts. They're all oilcloth, so completely wipe clean. Knowing how messy weaning can be, I jumped ...

The Infantino Cruise Around Activity Elephant Review

Permalink

With a 3 year age gap between Max and Ben, it's fair to say that I didn't expect it to be easy to find toys that appealed to them both and that they could both play with together. But when I was asked to review the Cruise Around Activity Elephant from Infantino, I wondered whether this might just be the one that fit that brief.     How Does It Work? The Infantino Cruise Around Activity Elephant is aimed at 9 months plus, and is designed to grow with your child, encouraging them to pull themselves up, and then teaching them counting and ball skills once they get to the later toddler stage. It's a great sensory experience, with bright colours, flashing lights, and ...

To Myself As A First Time Mum

Permalink

Becoming a parent was the most life changing event in my life. It quite literally turned my life upside down - I'd always considered myself to be quite a selfish person, and yet suddenly I had this little being, entirely dependent on me, who I was desperate to do the best for. It's a really scary time. It's crammed to the brim with emotions, and you're trying to learn things you've never done before with next to nothing in the way of an instruction manual. There is so much that I'd want to tell myself as a first time parent...   Trust Your Instincts As a first time mum, I scoffed at the phrase 'mother's intuition'. I'd never done this before, how could ...

Our Weaning Journey, with Obstacles Along the Way

Permalink

Weaning was one of my favourite baby stages with Max. I loved the exploration, watching his little face light up as he tried new flavours, and seeing his mouth wide open, like a baby bird, waiting for you to spoon in his favourite food. I had my first inkling that weaning with Ben might not be that easy when we were advised to try early weaning to help with his reflux, but he didn't even seem to remotely understand the concept of food, and either refused to open his mouth, or gagged on whatever we gave him. We had two very tentative attempts before 6 months, both of which were resounding failures, so I abandoned the idea of early weaning ...

Introducing #BabyBjörnLoveManifesto and the new One Air Baby Carrier

Permalink

When I became a mum, I was so determined to do everything 'right'. I read lots of books, I did all my research, and I ended up consumed with worry and guilt when the 'right' methods didn't seem to work for my baby. When I read about BabyBjörn's Love Manifesto, I couldn't have been more on board with the ethos behind it - trust yourself, create your own rules, and invent your own parenting. I think trusting your instincts as a parent is fundamental to being a happy parent - I've seen so clearly with my own children that what works for one child isn't necessarily the best approach for the other. So I was thrilled to be invited to the ...

The Izmi Baby Carrier: The Perfect Introduction To Babywearing

Permalink

As a second time Mum, I've absolutely embraced babywearing - it's been my absolute lifesaver these last 7 months and has meant running around with two children has been so much easier. But I clearly remember trying it as a first time mum and giving up. I had a structured carrier which I found hurt my back, and I found it clunky and inflexible, and it didn't seem to do much to settle my baby either. I felt that I might have got on better with a wrap, but I was far too intimidated by what seemed like a really complex technique to master, and too scared that I would do it wrong. Second time around I knew I wanted ...
