A low-key babymoon in Surrey

I remember when I was pregnant with Max I scoffed at the idea of a babymoon. It may have been related to the relentless sickness I suffered from most of the way through that pregnancy, but the thought of going away for a break just didn't feel like something I wanted or needed to do. But this time around I definitely felt in need of a break! Having been pretty sick this pregnancy too, plus running around after Max, and with the knowledge that we don't have a holiday planned until the end of September, we decided to book a weekend away. We didn't want to go far, so when I read that Bel and The Dragon, a small chain of restaurants ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran We visited RHS Wisley this week and it was an amazing time of year to wander round. Max loved smelling the daffodils - I absolutely love this cheeky on of him having just had a sniff and then looking up at me to check if I'd seen! He's so gentle with all the flowers - I love watching him touch them. Mind you, I think the highlight of the trip for him was the digger that was positioned just behind the shot, he could have watched it for hours!

The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 27

27 weeks pregnant and the last week of the second trimester! Although the first trimester definitely dragged, I have to say that this second one has flown by. I think when you've got the distraction of a toddler running around, and the reassurance of having already got lots of the baby paraphernalia, it definitely seems to go that much more quickly.   What's going on with the baby   The baby's hearing has developed enough this week that they might be able to recognise the sound of familiar voices. They can open and close their eyes, and may even suck their fingers or thumb.   What's going on with me   What a week this has been! I think I've hit the stage now where I'm starting to ...

Get crafty without the mess! Chalkola Chalk Pens - Review

I have to confess straight away: I'm not a crafty mum. It's a rare occasion that I get the paint or any craft bits out - I can't face the mess and I'm lacking the skills in the creative department. To add to that, my 2 year old is one of those rare children who isn't actually a fan of anything messy and doesn't like getting his hands dirty! So when Chalkola Chalk Markers first contacted me about reviewing their range of chalk pens my heart didn't initially leap with excitement. But on reading more about them I started to see that they could be the perfect craft activity for us. Instead of the mess of chalk dust getting everywhere, they ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran It was such a miserable day yesterday with us that we didn't set foot outside other than a quick trip to Tesco. But we found an excellent rainy day activity with these chalk pens from Chalkola which allow you to draw on the windows. Max thought it was such a treat and loved it! Normally he loses interest in activities like this after about 10 minutes, but even when I said it was time to stop as we had no more window to draw on he wanted to carry on!

26 weeks pregnant now and despite lots of moans about what a struggle it all is, I have to say the second trimester is flying by! I can't believe next week will be my last second trimester update. Everyone said that the second pregnancy would go so much more quickly, and that's definitely been the case - I feel like we suddenly have so much to do before we're ready for a baby!   What's going on with the baby   This week, the baby will start to open it's eyes! Until now, they've been fused shut to allow the retina to develop, but from now on they will be able to open and the baby can see. They weigh around 2lbs and are about ...

A big welcome back to #SharingtheBlogLove! Thank you so much to everyone who joined last week - it was another week of great posts and I always love my routine of catching up with them all. I've had a super busy week this week as we had a little trip away at the weekend - a little babymoon! I've always scoffed at the idea of a babymoon, but it really was lovely to have a bit of time together and just relax a bit. I'm at that point of pregnancy now where everything is starting to get pretty uncomfortable, so I think we timed it just right! But, on with the linky!   What's #SharingtheBlogLove all about?
