Korbell Nappy Disposal Bin - Review

Whenever I read lists of 'baby things you don't need' I'm baffled by people that include a nappy bin in that category. For me, it's an absolute essential! There's no way I want to be trekking out to the outside bin with every nappy, and when you get a smelly one, that's not something I want lumped in the kitchen bin. Something that contains the smell until you can empty it is a must-have in my view, and a huge time saver. We had a different brand of nappy bin first time around, but when I was asked to review the Korbell Nappy Disposal Bin I leapt at the chance. Primarily because it comes in a range of pretty pastel colours ...

Wake Up and Smell the Roses: A Trip to Mottisfont in June

We visited Mottisfont for the first time in July last year and I thought it was one of the most beautiful gardens I'd visited. We were a bit past it for the rose season though, so I made a diary note to make sure we visited in peak rose season this year to see the roses in all their glory. It was the last day of my husband's paternity leave, so we decided to pull Max out of nursery and head down all together as it was such a lovely day. Apologies for a rather photo heavy post, but words really don't do it justice! Max insisted we all play hide and seek, which I always find quite a stressful experience - ...

Multitasking Mama with the Cheeky Chompers MultiMuslin - Review

I swear since becoming a mum of two my handbag has tripled in size with all the different bits and bobs I need to cart around with us! So anything that multi-tasks and has more than one function is very welcome to me, and you don't get much more multi-functional than the MultiMuslin from Cheeky Chompers. We were sent one to test out, and it's fast become one of my essential changing bag items. It's a large sized muslin and comes in a range of cute prints - we chose the Silver Stars, but other designs include the turquoise Zebra Dreams, the Happy Hippo, or the pretty pink Rosy Days.   How can I use the Cheeky Chompers MultiMuslin?   A swaddle The large size of ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   I think this has to be one of my favourite Living Arrows shots of this year! Max is such a great big brother. It's clear he's been struggling with the transition more this week as the tears and tantrums have been so much more frequent, but he doesn't show it towards his brother at all. I love this cuddle - Max looks just so proud and I'm not entirely sure how Ben felt about it all! Amazingly, so far Ben seems to love his big brother. Whenever Max talks to him or is all in his face, he's always looking at him with this expression ...

How I Fell Out of Love with Instagram

Of all the social media platforms, Instagram has long been my favourite. I love documenting those little snippets from our daily lives and capturing our family as it grows. I love the positive vibe it has, the supportive community that I've found there, and the connections and friendships I've forged with other Instagrammers. But recently I've fallen out of love with it all and I'm not entirely sure why.   Yet another algorithm change... There's no doubt that Instagram has changed the algorithm yet again - I'm not seeing my favourites in my feed and I'm having to remember to head over to their accounts to see their recent posts. Even those that I have notifications set up for I'm missing, as the ...

Snuggle up with the Love to Swaddle UP - Review

Swaddling is one of those things that seems to go in and out of fashion, but there's no denying that so many babies love the snuggled up feeling that it gives. The current advice is more on the anti-swaddling side of things, with concerns over hip and pelvis problems from legs being bound up tightly. However there are some great products on the market that aim to give as much of the comforting feeling of swaddling, without any risks to your baby's hips. Love to Swaddle UP is a sleep suit that aims to give your baby that snuggled up feel and to help them sleep better for longer. I've seen quite a few newborn swaddle sleeping bags, but the unique ...

A Tale of Two Births - Mumsnet Campaign for #BetterPostnatalCare

When you come out of hospital with your brand new baby it's an overwhelming time. Birth announcements, introducing your newest family member to the rest of your family, on top of getting to grips with life as a new parent. It's no wonder that in the midst of all of that that what you don't hear people talking about is their experience of postnatal care - whether you had a good or bad experience, there are far more pressing things to be getting on with, like feeding your new arrival. But your experience after the birth itself can stay with you a long time and have a huge impact on those early days as a parent. When it comes to ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   When we were watching TV in the week, there was a programme that involved camping - something which fascinated Max, and he asked if we could go camping. We've been trying to make sure that Max has lots of things that we're doing just for him, while he adjusts to having a little brother around who takes up a lot of our time, so John went out on Saturday and bought a tent for camping in the garden that evening. Max was so excited to be camping, insisting on bring so many of his toys out to the tent with them, and I could still ...
