A lazy Sunday morning with breakfast in bed

I love the weekends - especially when it gets to this time of year, there’s nothing better than all snuggling up together in bed. Having exciting things to do at the weekend is great, but sometimes you just need that quiet time at the start of the day, to all get together and just relax. Time just slows down and there’s no rush to anything - just you and your family all cuddled up together. So when we were sent lots of yummy pastries from the lovely people at Brioche Pasquier, I knew that Max would love having a breakfast picnic in bed.

There were mini croissants, pain au chocolates, pain au lait, all individually packaged to keep everything fresh, and a huge brioche loaf to top it all off. And the packaging really did do a great job as these were some of the tastiest pre-made pastries I’ve had. Max in particularly wolfed these down (I think he ate more than John and I put together!) There’s something really decadent about pastries for breakfast I always think - I really don’t think you can beat a croissant with strawberry jam as a treat to start the day off.

Max absolutely loved the novelty of eating in our bedroom, the chocolatey smile on his face just beamed from ear to ear (which completely makes up for the fact that he smeared chocolate all over our lovely white bedding!) I really love these shots of us together as a little family - they’re not the best shots I’ve ever taken; they’re a bit grainy as the light in our bedroom isn’t the best in the morning, but they’re perfect to me. And isn’t that what family is all about? A little bit imperfect, but perfect to you.

Thanks Laura - you definitely can’t beat it in Max’s view, he asked for his breakfast in bed on Monday too!

This looks heaven to me. I agree this time of year, you want to snuggle in bed for a bit longer and what better way than with some yummy food. My girls would’ve loved a picnic breakfast too and I can see from Max’s face, he did too. x

They really were lovely - I’m normally a croissant girl, and I’d forgotten how nice pain au chocolates were!

I love taking our time over breakfast at the weekends and making it a bit of an event. Sometimes I’ll make pancakes or poached eggs, but pastries are my favourite. I remember when I was little we only used to have croissants at my Nanny and Grandad’s when we had a sleepover and they got them in specially for us, it felt like such a treat! Your picnic breakfast looks perfect and it’s pretty clear to see what Max thinks about it bless him! xx

We love pancakes over here too, although I have to admit they’re more of a hit with me and John than with Max! I love that - we always had tea and biscuits in bed with my Grandma and Grandad, it’s one of my favourite memories of staying with them.
