January is always a month where I tend to have a little beauty splurge - something about those dark days and spring still seeming a long way off makes me try to cheer myself up with some beauty treats!
Coachella Coral has been my first foray into the world of Charlotte Tilbury and I love it. It’s from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. range which have more of a sheen than the Matte Revolution lipsticks and Coachella Coral is more of a muted coral than many out there, so very wearable on a day to day basis. The formulation of these lipsticks is just incredible. I normally find highly pigmented lipsticks can be drying on my lips, particularly in winter, but this is great - really creamy, just glides on, and while it’s not moisturising, it doesn’t dry out my lips at all. The finish is great - it has a satin sheen to it, but still has that creamy matte look. It lasts really well, no feathering round the edges and fades very gracefully, not leaving that tell-tale line round the edge of the lips, which is admirable for such a strong colour. The packaging is as glamorous as the £23 price tag demands - rose gold which just glistens in the light and is a really beautiful addition to my makeup bag. I was upsold the Pink Venus Lip Cheat lipliner to go with the lipstick, which is a great colour match and does give that extra oomph to my pout, but in all honesty the lipstick is so good that I’m not sure it really warrants a lipliner!
My one issue with the Charlotte Tilbury range is that I feel the range of shades are really geared towards paler skin (unsurprising perhaps given Charlotte’s own skin colour) and that leaves me only a limited number of shades to choose from which will look good on my olive skin. More shades please Charlotte!
I may be late to the party on Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation but I am a total convert. I only ended up trying this as it’s my sister’s foundation and she accidentally bought the wrong shade (Pebble), which turns out to be a perfect match for me. I love it - it’s so smooth and blends perfectly, covering all flaws and giving a really even finish. When used with the Double Wear powder it gives a truly flawless finish (I save this for special occasions as it has a pretty ‘glam’ look!)
I’ve also been trying to make an effort to keep my nails in better condition this year and keeping them painted helps me to focus on this. I love Essie polishes and added Exotic Liras to my collection - a deep pink that sits really well on my nails lasting for around 3 days with no chipping (2 coats, no top coat), and suits my skintone nicely.
So, all in all, I’ve had quite a little beauty haul in January! What are your recent beauty favourites?
