Getting Through the Newborn Days with my Favourite TV Box Sets

*This is a sponsored post Those newborn days are a hazy memory to me now, but I'm well aware that we're staring down the barrel of them again. One of my most essential items for getting through it all was our Amazon Video / Netflix subscription, which give you access to a whole host of TV shows and films to get you through those long night-time feeds. Combine that with a top of the range Panasonic UHD 4K TV and you're all set! I find there are certain criteria that make something essential watching in the baby / breastfeeding days. You want something that doesn't require too much brainpower - I distinctly remember watching House of Cards and not following it at all! ...

Potty Training on the go with My Carry Potty - Review

Potty training is one of those things that I dreaded - you never quite know how it's going to go! I count ourselves very lucky that Max took to it without any problems and was so proud of himself to be a 'big boy' now. But one thing that we've still struggled with is when we're out and about, a long way from a toilet. We love being outdoors. A visit to a big garden, a National Trust, picnics in the summer - we love to feel the sunshine on our faces! But my experience of National Trusts and large gardens in general is that the toilets tend to be located near the entrance and it'll be once you reach the ...

A Spring Visit to Sissinghurst Castle Garden

Sissinghurst Castle Garden has long been on my list to visit. It's one of the UK's most famous gardens, designed and created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson and now a Grade I listed National Trust property. We made our first visit last summer, but sadly we weren't lucky with the weather and it rained quite heavily the whole time we were there. This year we decided on a revisit and we couldn't have been luckier with the weather!     The entrance takes you through into a courtyard with perfectly manicured lawns and in spring the scent of the hyacinths hits you straight away. Although it's named Sissinghurst Castle Garden, the only nod to the Castle is the Tower, which you can walk ...

Living Arrows 16/52

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   I honestly don't think I could love this photo any more! Sure, it's a bit blurry, but it just catches these two at their absolute best! We went for a trip to Winkworth Arboretum at the weekend to find some bluebells - which were pretty spectacular! But it was this photo that I think I love the most from that trip. Max loves to ride on his Daddy's shoulders, and thinks it's absolutely hilarious when Daddy 'pretends' to forget about the trees and walks Max right through them. I love seeing these two together - moments like this leave a smile on my face as ...

The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 31

31 weeks pregnant and the weeks are really ticking down now.   What's going on with the baby The baby now weighs somewhere around 3.5lbs and is about to head into a growth spurt. His immune system is now much more developed, and he's moving around a lot - and those kicks are definitely getting more uncomfortable now!   What's going on with me This week I'm definitely feeling like a big pregnant lady - getting up, walking, sitting on the floor, anything physical is definitely becoming very difficult. I feel I'm definitely developing a waddle and my pace has slowed in line with Max's toddler pace (and when he decides he's going to do a runner in the shops I'm really struggling to keep up with him!). ...

Living Arrows 15/52

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   Yesterday my little boy turned 3 years old! We asked him what he wanted to do and he said he wanted to go to the beach, so off we headed down to Camber Sands. We'd pretty much worn out the appeal of the beach by 2pm, so we stopped off at Sissinghurst Castle Garden on the way home for an explore. Max wasn't in the best of moods for having his photo taken, but he asked me to take one of him sat on this chair in one of the garden's most beautiful spots - for a boy who was insisting on "no photos mummy" ...
