Pumpkin Picking at Pickwell Farm

Last year was our first time going to pick our own pumpkin and Max loved it so much he asked to do it again! I was amazed that he'd remembered doing it, but since I loved it too, how could I refuse? We usually head to Garson's PYO farm in Esher for things like this, but I'd heard great things about Pickwell Farm in Hampshire, so we decided to make a trip of it and head down. We arrived and it was clear that pumpkin picking has now become a big hit in this country - it was really busy! We collected our wheelbarrow from the entrance and wheeled our way out to the field. I loved the little walk out ...

Exploring Cornwall’s Beautiful Gardens - Trebah Gardens

Anyone who reads my blog knows that I absolutely love a big garden to explore. They're perfect places for us to enjoy as a family - I love getting outside and seeing all the beautiful flowers and drawing inspiration for our own garden, and Max loves to dart down every path, exploring. The unique climate in Cornwall means that there are so many beautiful gardens to explore, and with each trip we make we're ticking more off the list. Our favourite discovery of this trip was Trebah Gardens which I can't recommend enough if you're visiting Cornwall.   Trebah Gardens I'd been recommended Trebah as a great place for families, and was drawn in by the exotic planting and the promise of the ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   We love our now annual trip to the pumpkin patch! Max was determined to pick out the best 'Max sized' pumpkin that he could pick up and hold, and he found the perfect one! I love this shot of him, he was so chuffed with it!

From a toddler to a little boy…

Do you ever feel like life has just shifted up a gear and suddenly everything is just whizzing by? Since Ben has come along, I swear Max has changed into a little boy right before my eyes. I've missed all those little changes and all of a sudden he's all little boy and there's nothing remotely toddler-like about him. It hit me full in the face this week when we visited a local soft play that I've been meaning to take him to for ages. Like most sane people, I'm not normally a fan of soft play. It's just something that you sometimes have to endure on a rainy day, when the memory of the previous awfulness has faded and you ...

My instagram feed has exploded with pumpkins and I think we're off to pick ours this weekend - it's something that Max remembers from last year, and he's been asking to do it for ages. I love the changing of the colours in nature at this time of year - it feels so comforting and just makes you want to head outside to enjoy it all, before returning home to snuggle under a blanket.   What's #SharingtheBlogLove all about? If you are new to Sharing the Blog Love it is a weekly showcase of our favourite posts that have linked up. It's a chance to introduce you ...

Postcards from St Ives

When it came to planning where we wanted to go on holiday this year, there was no question. We took Max to St Ives in Cornwall for his first little holiday when he was just 7 weeks old and we had an amazing time. So much so that we've returned many times - we love making memories down there, and so it was an easy choice for this year's holiday. We wanted to introduce Ben to one of our favourite places and make new memories as a family of four.     There's something so special about St Ives; the light, the beaches, the laid back vibe. It's easy to see why so many people return year on year. And I love it ...

A Guilt Free G&T with the Pizza Express Autumn Menu

Would you miss alcohol if you gave up drinking? When I was pregnant, I tried quite a few non-alcoholic cocktails but there was only one that I felt really worked. Most were overly sweet and just didn't have that refreshing taste that I look for in a drink. And a lemonade or an orange juice lacks the glamour of a wine glass or a cocktail glass - especially when they get served up in a pint glass! I was kindly invited to an evening with Pizza Express and Seedlip Drinks, whose Garden 108 non-alcoholic spirit is one of the new additions on the Pizza Express autumn menu. Seedlip are the world's first distilled non-alcoholic spirits and the Garden 108 is a ...

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth – Kahlil Gibran   Wearing wellies and jumping in puddles is one of those quintessential childhood activities, isn't it. Just look at Peppa Pig! But for so long, Max has missed out on that joy, as he has adamantly refused to wear wellies. It's taken until the age of 3.5 for him to experience this and I'm so pleased that he's finally enjoying it! We had a short break in Cornwall recently, which I plan to write all about this week, but for now, here is a snapshot of Max's very first puddle jump!

A big welcome back to #SharingtheBlogLove linky! I hope you've had a lovely week so far? We've just got back from a fabulous week away in Cornwall. We were so lucky to have amazing weather for all but one day of our trip - I really think that you can't beat Cornwall in the sunshine. We spent most of our time on the beach in St Ives, but still managed to fit in lots of exploring of new gardens too. It's been back to earth with a bump this week!   What's #SharingtheBlogLove all about? If you are new to Sharing the Blog Love it is a weekly showcase of our favourite posts that have linked up.
