How to Make A Christmas Wreath - An Easy DIY

Every year I get lots of comments on Instagram from people saying they wish they knew how to make their own, so I thought I'd write up a little guide as it really is so easy! In past years I've used wire wreath rings and created a base using sphagnum moss and florist's wire, but this year I bought a foam oasis base and it really does make the whole job so much easier. Plus, the water in the foam will keep your foliage looking fresh for weeks to come. What You'll Need Foam Oasis ...

A sneaky peek at my makeup organisation

I've always been a bit of a makeup addict and an organiser, so there's nothing that combines these two passions better than makeup organisation! I recently revamped my dressing table which gave me the push I needed to really look at better ways to store my makeup. Until just recently, I used a big makeup artist's trunk which sat on the floor - not the most ideal solution - and meant that most of the makeup that I used on a day to day basis would just end up strewn across my dressing table.   Storage Storage is key for good organisation. My main objective was to find little homes for all of my bits and pieces, but to still be able to ...

Floral styling for a summer bedroom

When the summer comes round, there's nothing better than a bit of a bedroom spruce up - new bedding can really transform and brighten up the bedroom, and when you consider the number of hours you spend in your bed, it's well worth investing in making it a cool and comfortable place to be.   Embrace the florals Flowers are one of my favourite ways to track the seasons, and floral bedding is always a big hit with me. Anyone who knows my love of a bold patterned wallpaper will probably find it unsurprising that I also love a bold print when it comes to bedding. It adds a splash of pattern and colour and is a really easy way to add a ...

The Big Bedroom Reveal

Our master bedroom ticks all of the boxes for being awkward to decorate. Despite being the biggest bedroom, due to the odd layout of our house, it's cursed with the smallest window - a narrow window that looks onto the side return, so doesn't even have the benefit of being well positioned to let in light. It also has a strange curved wall on one side, making it very difficult to use it to fit furniture against.     Both of these issues meant that I found decorating it a big challenge. That said, we couldn't do worse than the previous occupants, who decided to embrace the darkness and put in fitted mahogany wardrobes. Those were one of the first things to be ripped out ...

5 of the Best Children’s Wallpapers

When it comes to decorating a child's room, I think wallpaper is a great choice - used in the right way it can add a fun element to the room and tell a story which sets imaginations alight. Although we chose a muted grey and yellow theme for Max's nursery, I'm conscious that as he gets a bit older he's going to want to chose things for himself and we're likely to face redecorating. I'm not keen on staring face on with a Peppa Pig mural (his current obsession), so I've been eyeing up my favourite children's wallpaper. Cole & Son's Woods and Stars, £78 per roll Cole & Son's wallpapers are iconic British designs and offer fantastic prints that really stand out. ...

My Home Office - A Room Tour

It’s fair to say that our spare room has been somewhat neglected in our house decorations – initially it was going to be the nursery, but a nasty damp problem put pay to that plan. A vast amount of repointing, drying out, and replastering later, it was finally ready for decorating and to become my home office. I work from home and I wanted a space that was bright, airy, and inspirational to work in. Sian Elin The starting point for the décor was Sian Elin’s Tress Multi wallpaper – as soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. As far as I’m concerned, if you’re going for wallpaper rather than paint it should be bold and make a ...

Max’s Nursery - A Room Tour

One of the things that every parent rushes to get ready for their first child is the nursery decor and despite having a whole house to renovate while I was pregnant, we of course were no exception. This room had the added bonus that underneath 4 layers of wallpaper that was standard for the house, the wall had been covered with a PVA adhesive layer which we (or rather, my very patient husband) painstakingly scraped off. I wanted the nursery to be gender neutral, and to be a calm, bright, but relaxing place to be. It's a small room with boxy dimensions, so needed some consideration to keep an airy feel. I chose a grey colour scheme, choosing Farrow & Ball's classic Cornforth ...

The Midas Touch for Home Decor

Gold accessories have always been my favourite touches for adding that extra oomph to your home decor. When most of the home furnishing ranges went all copper on us last season I was a bit lost, but thankfully it appears that we are now fully embracing the gold home accessories again. Warm metallics like gold are great for adding warmth to a space and giving that little touch of glamour and just a few little trinkets added here and there can have a big impact on your home. How I've used gold accessories in my home I recently restyled the bookcase in my living room - as a big lover of colour our living room is painted white (Little Green Paint Company's Shirting) which allows for ...

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree…

Like 90% of the population I absolutely adore Christmas and getting the tree up is the occasion that signifies it's all started. For a few years now I've gone for the highly coordinated look with a very traditional red and gold theme, but this year, now that I'm seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child, I've been drawn to adding more unique, personal ornaments that we'll treasure over the years. Things which are a little bit kitsch and with a hint of nostalgia about them, that become old friends over the years that we can reminisce about as we hang them up. So this year I've added in amongst the red and gold some little touches which give our tree a ...

Dear Santa … My Christmas Wishlist

Dear Santa, This year, I would really love it if any of the following gifts were to find their way into my stocking on Christmas Day! Anthropologie Gold Monogram Mugs £8 I've loved these for ages and was pretty devastated when they sold out of the gold edition ones last year before I could get my hands on one. I'd love one of these this time around! A K, obviously. Jo Malone, Wood Sage & Sea Salt £42 for 30ml I'd not bothered to even try this Jo Malone scent until recently, as I tend to be more of a fruity fragrance (Pomegranite Noir, English Pear and Freesia, Blackberry & Bay are my go-to scents), but I had an urge to have a spritz recently and I'm ...
