You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth

– Kahlil Gibran

The Living Arrows series is a photo project hosted by Donna at What the Redhead Said. It’s a weekly series where you share a photo which captures a moment in childhood. I love how it encourages me to capture those little moments and I love looking back and seeing all the changes in Max as he grows up over the year.

We loved the Butterflies in the Glasshouse exhibition at RHS Wisley last year, and when I had a fairly sickness free day last week I decided to take Max for a return visit. It’s always lovely in the winter to head into the glasshouse to warm up, and when they have the butterflies they ramp up the heat even more than usual. It was lovely to watch Max’s amazement at the sight of all the different coloured butterflies, and he had such a fun time running up to them and chasing them as they flew away. Unsurprisingly, butterflies aren’t fans of toddlers running at them and shouting!

I love the sight of him in his little backpack. It seems to have become a regular companion on all of our trips. It doesn’t seem to matter what we put in it, he’s just happy as long as he’s wearing it.

Sounds lovely. We don’t have anywhere nearby like that. It’s nice Max likes to carry his own backpack I often end up carrying my kids ones! #livingarrows

I remember going to see the butterflies at Syon Park when I was little, such a wonderful experience! This photo is gorgeous, I know a little boy who would love a backpack like that too 🙂 xx

Ahhh I knew exactly where this photo was taken the moment I saw it (plus I think you mentioned you were going to Wisley on my post from last week - see I do have a good memory! LOL) We saw some of the butterflies the other week before the official opening of the exhibition and they were amazing. I bet it’s even better when they are all there. Glad you enjoyed it! #LivingArrows

Oh I so want to visit there! It’s funny, I saw a job advertised there in my profession - and I seriously contemplated it! That really is the most adorable backpack #LivingArrows
