The Very Hungry Caterpillar is Turning 50! {Ad}

We’re big fans of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in this house and this week has been his 50th birthday! He features very regularly in our bedtime story rotation, and I’m always using the phrase “And he was STILL hungry” about my two boys, who have insatiable appetites!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, there are a whole host of Very Hungry Caterpillar products available to buy. We were lucky enough to be sent some of them to try out, so if you’re a fan too, here are some of our favourites…

For Bug Hunters…

Max is learning all about bugs, minibeasts, and butterflies at school at the moment, so this Bug Catcher and Viewer has been a huge hit. We’ve been out in the garden collecting bugs at every opportunity (don’t worry, no bugs have been harmed in the process!).

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Bug Catcher and Viewer is available from TJX, Waterstones, M&M Direct and Wyevale. RRP £15.00.

He was also very excited about this Butterfly Growing Kit, as he’s been doing this at school and tells me about how the cocoons are coming on every day. I can’t wait to do this with him at home (and he can’t wait either - he’s asked me at least 5 times a day!)

These Bug Goggles give you a bug’s eye view of the world (and look pretty hilarious on too).

Butterfly Growing Kit available from Insect Lore, Tesco, Crocodile Stores, Pacey and Blue Diamond Garden Centres. RRP £20.00.

Bug Goggles available from Insect Lore, Tesco, Crocodile Stores, Pacey and Blue Diamond Garden Centres. RRP £7.99.

For Bookworms

We love a Board Book - they really stand up to the test of little toddler’s hands. This 50th Anniversary Edition Board Book will definitely be a favourite and would make a wonderful gift for a new baby. Available from Waterstones. RRP from £5.49

As you can see, Max also loved this Very Hungry Caterpillar costume, which is a simple tabard and hat! Available from Party Delights. RRP £13.99

For Babies

If you have a little one, this baby nest and comforter are so cute. I love a baby nest for that stage when they can’t quite sit up unsupported, but really want to be exploring the world at that level. You can find this one at Galt Toys, DebenhamsAmazon and Crocodile Stores. RRP £39.99. Comfort Blanket available from John Lewis. RRP £9.99

For Puzzlers

Max is a huge fan of jigsaws, so this floor puzzle went down well. It’s a 24 piece floor puzzle, and nice and simple for younger children. Available from Debenhams. RRP £14.00.
