Just when we thought the summer was over, here comes the sun again to give us another chance at all those things we didn't get round to doing! We have a lovely weekend planned - we're heading to Legoland today to make use of our newly purchased Merlin passes, and then planning a family BBQ for tomorrow. We've had a week of ups and downs - on Thursday I took Max to Boots for his Meningitis B jab, which we decided to pay for privately when it was announced that he would miss the age cutoff to get it done on the NHS. It went much more smoothly than I'd expected - he was so brave! But to compensate for that, ...

This is a week I'll be more than glad to see the back of - it's been filled with some things that I'd rather forget and been a difficult one in general. But in amongst all of that there have been some lovely moments that have got me through.   01. Max and I visited Mayfield Lavender Farm on Monday and it was just as lovely as I'd expected. Max wasn't in the mood at first, so we just sat down in the middle of all the lavender and had a long cuddle, breathing in the sweet smell. It was like being in a fantasy - purple as far as your eye could see, and Max kept shouting 'popple!' I got some ...

This has been a week of highs and lows - my emotions have been all over the place! It was my birthday on Thursday, which always brings lots of happiness, but I was so sad to wake up to more horrific news yesterday of the events in Nice. I don't want to dwell on it here on my blog, as I just don't have the right words to express how I feel about it, or to help anyone, but my heart goes out to all of those families affected by such an awful attack. I hesitated to post this today, as it seemed somewhat frivolous and insignificant in the wake of such sad news, but I think that these are the ...

So go on - who stole summer? It seems like it's been raining forever and it's putting a real dampner (*groan*) on my mood! But aside from the weather, and the political goings on, this week has been a really good one with loads of lovely things happening.   01. My linky, #SharingtheBlogLove, which I'm hosting with Laura from Dear Bear and Beany, went live for the first time yesterday. At the time of writing this we've had 30 people link up, which is just amazing! It's such a nerve wracking thing to put yourself out there and there is always that worry that no-one will bother linking. So a huge thank you to everyone who joined us - the linky is ...

We've just got home from an amazing week on holiday in Tuscany which felt like it just flew by! The weather was a bit hit and miss, but mostly good and I love that in Tuscany that doesn't really seem to ruin the holiday in the slightest. It was lovely to see how much of a Daddy's boy Max is - all holiday he just loved having his Dad around all day and was full of cuddles and kisses for Daddy. And it was lovely to see how great John is with Max too. I tend to forget that although I get to have lots of one-to-one time with Max during the week, John misses out on that sometimes, so watching ...

It's been a really busy couple of weeks lately, so crammed full of lovely stuff it's been difficult to choose 5 highlights! A Bank Holiday always does that, doesn't it?   01.After a busy weekend it was lovely to have a restful Bank Holiday Monday! We had a lazy morning, then heading to my favourite place, RHS Wisley, for a wander. I love visiting Wisley with all three of us as it means I can grab a few moments to properly take things in while John keeps an eye on Max! Max loved this huge plant - very pre-historic looking, don't you think? I can just imagine a dinosaur nibbling on the top of it!   02. Last Saturday my Mum, my sister and I ...

What a mad couple of weeks it's been lately! If you're a regular reader you may have read about our flooded garden last week which threw my mood out for a few days, but remarkably dried out really quickly thanks to the glorious sun we had last week and it's looking like we've been really lucky and not lost too many plants. All things considered, it's been a pretty good week, so on with the Happy List!   01. I'm a huge fan of wisteria - it's such a short lived but beautiful bloomer - and this time of year you just seem to notice it's purple glory everywhere. A few days ago my mum rang me, knowing how much I loved it, and ...

After a bit of a stressful week last week, this one has been very much on the up! If you read my previous post you'll know we've had a few days away in lovely St Ives last weekend and got back on Tuesday feeling relaxed and refreshed. We had some lovely trips to various Cornwall tourist hotspots and it was lovely to have some time away together as a family. Max adjusted really well to sleeping in a new place and in a new bed, and seemed to love the novelty of being 'on holiday'! He loved the beach, and was really keen to explore everywhere - I've never seen him do so much walking! The only thing he didn't like was ...

I'm not going to lie - it seems like it's been a difficult week over here. We have a lot of family stuff going on which is getting me down, and the weather being so up and down is really throwing my mood off. But even in a pretty rubbish week there are positives to look at - isn't that what a Happy List is all about? :)   01. We had such a lovely weekend last week celebrating Max's birthday. We went to Legoland on Saturday and he was so excited to be back he shouted all the way up the drive to the car park (I'm amazed he remembered it as the last time we went was in December!). He ...

It's lovely to have the long weekend over Easter for getting some good quality family time together, but it does mean you come back down to earth with a bit of a bump, doesn't it? This week has felt like a busy one. 01. We had a wonderful trip away last week to Bath, just me and my husband. We stayed at The Pig Near Bath, which I cannot recommend more highly - the food was outstanding, but the ambience and feel of the hotel were just lovely. We enjoyed the typical Bath tourist stuff - a trip to the Roman Baths, a visit to the Thermae Spa, and a mooch up to the Royal Crescent. It was so lovely to ...
