We’re Going On A Dinosaur Hunt {with JoJo Maman Bébé}

I’ve found it so difficult to carve out time for just me and Max since Ben came along. I often feel like Ben gets me to himself 2 days a week, while Max is at nursery, but for Max, it’s rare for the two of us to get time alone together. So last weekend the two of us headed out into the woods for a little walk, and we took with us Max’s Olli and Ella basket filled with little toy dinosaurs.

We headed into the woods, his little hand grasping mine tightly, as we negotiated the sticky, oozy mud (and there was lots of it!). I tasked Max with choosing the perfect spot - a bit off the beaten track, nice and sunny, and with lots of trees to hide our dinosaurs in. We had to go quite a way into the woods to find it, but eventually we came across our dinosaur hunting spot. There was no-one around, leaves covered the ground in a crunchy carpet, and sunshine streamed through the trees, glittering behind us.

Of course, to head out on a dinosaur hunt, you have to be wearing the right dinosaur clothes, and we were kindly sent the perfect outfit by the lovely folk at JoJo Maman Bébé. I’ve loved JoJo’s clothes for a long time now - I love their fun and colourful designs that always appeal to children. They do some wonderful dinosaur items, and Max loved his T-Rex hoodie and Stegasaurus applique top. I always love the detail on JoJo clothes - the way the little ridges stand up on the dinosaur hoodie is just too cute!

Max opened his little white basket that seems to accompany us on lots of our trips now, and we each took half of the dinosaurs to hide around the little section of the woods. Some in the trees, some on the ground, some peeking out from beneath the moss. Soon enough, we were ready, and Max headed off, full of excitement, to collect all of the dinosaurs.

It was so sweet watching him spot them all and his giggles as he ran back with them each time he found one. He kept running up to me, giving me a big hug, and saying “It’s just Mummy and Max!” and I realised just how long it’s been since it was just me and Max, and how it used to be just us, in our little twosome, nearly every day. I think that Max has adjusted so well to having Ben in his life, that sometimes I forget just how much his little world was turned on it’s head when his baby brother came along, and that he still needs that one-on-one time with me. It’s so difficult when we get to the weekend and desperately want to spend time all together as a family, but I really want to make time for the two of us more often.

It was lovely to get back home to my other little dinosaur fan though - JoJo kindly sent the cutest little dinosaur dungaree set for Ben, and he looks all kinds of adorable in it!
