Me and Mine: May 2018

Well where did May go? It feels like this month has flown by - we’ve been so busy enjoying the good weather this month, it’s felt like summer has come early and we’ve been loving it. It’s been a month packed full of lovely visits to our favourite places - it’s so true that April showers bring May flowers, because everywhere is blooming beautifully at the moment.

We’ve had numerous trips to Wisley to see the orchards, the azaleas, and the allium, and it’s reaffirmed why it’s my favourite place to visit. We even discovered some wonderful new spots that we’ve never seen before, including a fabulous hidden bridge covered in wisteria - after 4 years of regular visits it seems incredible that we’re still making new discoveries, but we are!

Amazingly, we’ve visited Greys Court 3 times this month - once for the bluebells, and twice to see the wisteria. And we’ve visited the Isabella Plantation at Richmond, Kew Gardens, and Polesden Lacey too - we really have packed in a lot this month!

But as much as we’ve loved exploring, we’ve also made the most of being at home and just playing in the garden. Max and Ben have been loving playing with bubbles, and we even gave Ben an outdoors bath which he loved. John has been loving perfecting his BBQ skills and we’ve had so many BBQ’s this year already. I love eating outside in the evening - it always feels like you’re on holiday.

Our photos this month were taken on a spur of the moment trip after tea to a nearby walled garden. It was a bit more stressful than expected, as I realised I’ve lost yet another shoe for the tripod (I’ll have to be buying our 3rd one now), so we had to balance the camera on a nearby bench which was a bit more precarious than I would have liked! But I think they’ve come out quite well considering. The boys do look a bit grumpy though, which is probably a sign of how late in the day it was getting!
